It's come out recently that many of my (mid-30s) friends are doing little things to their faces -- Botox, lip filler, etc. I haven't done anything, which isn't a "yay for me, Miss Moral High Ground" position; I just haven't, because I don't care enough and don't want to spend the money. But there's some feeling I haven't been able to identify around this, almost like my girlfriends starting doing this stuff and none of us talked about it, even though we talk about everything. I almost feel ... left out? Like they all have this interest, and this knowledge -- seriously, how do people know what they want/where to go/what stuff is available? It's like how everyone seems to know what skincare routine to do and how to do their makeup, and I'm left wondering if I just missed that lesson in school or something -- and I don't, and I don't even want it but feel weird that I don't want it. Yikes!

I mean, look at Joe Biden. the guy looks better at 85 than he did at 65.

This has been my response to seeing the glowing faces of my literary heroines posting videos on Instagram. “Wait, it’s not enough to write like the gods, now we have to care about looking like we’re twenty until seventy? Shit!! I got into this thing BECAUSE there were so few cameras except the one in my mind….” ❤️‍🩹 ❤️‍🩹 ❤️‍🩹 I have real respect for writers who let themself go to hell like a proper old (mediocre) professor in a moth-eaten sweater, who never kicked that disgusting smoking habit (lol). Fine, maybe kick the worst of the bad habits but give me that grizzled old face!

I find this so comforting!

The woman who inspires me is Jamie Lee Curtis for her refusal to de age ! She normalizes it

I’m also impressed by lovely Pammy Anderson who continues to go makeup free

And she’s doing something seen as radical

I've got better looking as I've gotten older. I always wanted crows feet lines around my eyes, and now I have them and I think they're beautiful. I don't want to look like my younger self! I like my face now.

I had this exact same thought watching the love is blind reunion and comparing the women’s current faces to their pod faces
