I was talking with a friend about his boyfriend troubles.

The problem: My friend works for a large corporation and his boyfriend, an artist, lives on family money. They’ve been in love for years, but the artist boyfriend does not like that my friend spends so much time working for a ‘morally bankrupt corporation.’ The artist boyfriend did not have to work for anyone, though he does work on his art, and on the pure engagement with life that his family money affords him.

The corporation’s moral bankruptcy is not in dispute, but where does the boyfriend’s family money come from? My friend explained the money flowed from a deep generational well, old money from old businesses, Austrian.

Edvard Munch, Inheritance

So here is the problem. The artist boyfriend does not like the scent of his boyfriend’s morally compromised paychecks because the artist boyfriend’s money arrives pre-compromised.
