Rebellion
144 words
To be treated badly by someone you love, to be treated badly and to be told that this mistreatment is a demonstration of their love, or is a manifestation of their love, or, even, that the mistreatment is the love itself, the actual thing— such a relationship can be so overwhelming and so warping that even when you escape it (as you must escape it) you might miss all that old drama, might turn your life upside down in the subconscious hope that you will find a pain that seems necessary, but if you can convince yourself to give up this search, you may finally see it all for what it is or was— a leech sucked full of your blood— and if you can then endeavor to love and be loved without allowing yourself to replicate the past, this will be your rebellion.
