A few years back, attending a conference in Warsaw, I would walk a different route in the morning and again in the afternoon to the conference venue. I was regularly stopped for directions, but was never able to help as I speak no Polish. I'm often stopped for directions nowadays (in Australia) when I'm walking.

And then, there is deliberately getting lost when one is walking in a city like Addis Ababa, knowing that one is never truly lost because the airport is on the left somewhere, and eventually, you will reach a main road and be able to walk back to where you are staying, always able to ask anyone for directions but reveling in the feeling that no one in the world knows where you are except the strangers you are passing.

I have finally borrowed Biography of X from my local library.

Bravo! I love the idea of a short 144 word essay. My favorite part: "You look like you belong!"
